DIGITAL UNDERGROUND - SEX PACKETS (35th ANNIVERSARY colour splatter LP) DIGITAL UNDERGROUND
'Sex Packets', Digital Underground's groundbreaking debut album, was released on March 20, 1990.
This very special 35th anniversary edition features colour splatter vinyl and an amazing gatefold cover that opens to reveal a three-dimensional pop-up of a recording studio!
Seamlessly blending funk- infused rhythms with jazz piano and satirical social commentary, the album crafts a unique concept, propelled by the infectious Humpty Dance and the charismatic persona of Humpty Hump. Heavily influenced by P-Funk, the album showcases innovative production by Shock G and addresses themes of sexuality and culture with a playful yet insightful approach.
Sex Packets was certified platinum by the RIAA. The album reached #24 on the Billboard 200 and #8 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. It includes the singles Doowutchyalike (which peaked at #19 on the Hot Rap Singles, #20 on the Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles chart and #29 on the Hot R&B Singles chart) and The Humpty Dance (which reached #11 on the pop charts, #7 on the R&B charts, and #1 on the Billboard Rap Singles chart).
